Airport to Old Trafford or the Etihad: planning a matchday transfer
For an airport-to-matchday transfer, give the operator your flight, stadium, event date and required arrival time. Allow room for airport exit delays and event traffic, and arrange where luggage will go. A booked vehicle cannot guarantee you will make kick-off after a late flight.
Confirm the event before fixing the itinerary
Use the event organiser’s current information when confirming the date and start time. If your plans change, update both the accommodation and transfer bookings. Do not build the road journey around an old ticket message without checking that the event details remain current.
Should you go to the hotel first?
A hotel stop may let you leave suitcases before attending the match, but it adds a stop and requires time. Confirm that the hotel can accept the bags and include the stop in your quote. Going directly to the stadium requires a separate, confirmed luggage plan.
Do not assume luggage can enter the stadium
Check the venue’s current bag and entry policy directly before travelling. Airport luggage and permitted event bags are different issues. The driver’s vehicle should not be treated as storage during the match unless a suitable arrangement has been expressly agreed.
Agree a practical drop-off and return meeting point
Venue access arrangements and local traffic management can affect where vehicles may stop. Let the operator advise on a workable collection plan for the event. Agree the meeting location, contact number and what to do if crowd movement makes reaching it slower than expected.
Allow time after the final whistle
Leaving your seat, walking out of the venue and meeting the vehicle all take time. A return pickup should reflect those steps. If you intend to stay for hospitality or meet friends afterwards, tell the team before confirming the collection.
Travelling as a group?
Nominate one lead passenger and share the same instructions with everyone. Confirm the headcount and luggage for both the airport journey and the post-event leg; they may differ if some members are staying elsewhere.
